Spring Break Week at Your Library

Minion Hot Air BalloonIf your family is staying in town for spring break, have no fear! The Daniel Boone Regional Libraries have lots of great programming during spring break for all ages, guaranteed to provide smiles and fun.

Here is a peek into what we have planned at all three of our branches.

Monday, March 28

My Life in Pictures

Columbia Public Library. 10-10:45 a.m. Children’s Program Room.
Callaway County Public Library. 2-2:45 p.m. Friends Room.

Join award-winning author/illustrator Deborah Zemke to celebrate her newest book, “Bea Garcia: My Life in Pictures.” At this fun workshop, you’ll learn about putting words and pictures together to tell stories. Some kids will turn themselves into pictures, and everyone will receive a magic tool for making words and pictures that fly. Ages 5-10.

Tuesday, March 29

Minion Madness

Columbia Public Library. 2-3:30 p.m. OR 5:30-7 p.m. Children’s Program Room.

Let’s celebrate all things Minion! Join us for Minion-inspired activities, from making Minions out of Twinkies to creating an evil gadget of your very own. Ages 4 and older.

Wednesday, March 30

Animal Avengers: Heroes of the Wild

Southern Boone County Public Library. 10-10:45 a.m.
Callaway County Public Library. 2-2:45 p.m. Friends Room.
Columbia Public Library. 6-6:45 p.m. Children’s Program Room.

This live animal show will feature exotic wildlife from all over the world that possess very unique abilities. You’ll get to interact with the animals and ask questions of the naturalist from Animal Tales who will run the show. Families.

Thursday, March 31

Animal Avengers: Heroes of the Wild 

Columbia Public Library. 9:30-10:15 a.m., 11-11:45 a.m., 2-2:45 p.m., 7-7:45 p.m. Children’s Program Room.

Friday, April 1

Block Party

Columbia Public Library. 9:30-11:30 a.m. Children’s Program Room.

Playing with blocks develops a child’s math, language, social and science skills, as well as being lots of fun! Come to our block party to build talk, explore and create together. Families, ages 2-6. 

Block Party for Older Kids 

Columbia Public Library. 2-3:30 p.m. Children’s Program Room.

Bring school-age kids to explore and create together with blocks. We’ll have chess boards set up, too. Ages 7 and older. 

Saturday, April 2

Stop-Motion Animation Workshop

Columbia Public Library. 2-4 p.m. Studio.

Create your own mini-movie at this hands-on workshop. We’ll provide props, backgrounds and iPads with software to photograph and edit your film. Feel free to bring your own props or backgrounds, too. Children and teens, ages 8 and older. Registration begins Tuesday, March 22.
